Overview
To ensure the best performance and experience with Omni One PCVR, your hardware must meet certain specifications. These requirements ensure smooth gameplay, low latency, and compatibility with SteamVR.
For the best experience, we recommend having your Omni One, PC, and router in the same room. This is because the system requires a stable and direct connection between all three components for optimal performance, especially when playing PCVR games.
Compatible Headsets
Omni One supports SteamVR, and works with VR headsets like:
- Omni One bundled headset (via Business Streaming only)
- Other Pico headsets (via Pico Connect or Steam Link)
- Quest 2 or Quest 3 (via SteamLink)
- Any other SteamVR-compatible headset
Hardware Setup
Router Connection:
- Use a wired connection between your PC and router (Wi-Fi 5 minimum, 5GHz channel).
- High-speed cables (CAT5e or above) are recommended.
Bluetooth Connection:
- Bluetooth 5.4 or higher. Preferably use a Bluetooth 6.0 dongle.
- Use a USB 2.0 port and cable, not USB 3.0 (USB 3.0 ports are blue).
An external Bluetooth dongle is required for better connectivity. Please note that Omni One Core comes with a USB Bluetooth dongle, but Omni One does not. It can be purchased here.
Before connecting a Bluetooth dongle, you should first disable your onboard Bluetooth adapter. You can do this in device manger, after turning off any Bluetooth devices you currently have connected.
Example view of Device Manager. The down arrow over the Intel Bluetooth icon indicates that it has been disabled (your internal Bluetooth adapter may have a different name).
Positioning:
- Keep Omni One in the same room as your router and PC.
- Use a USB extender (preferably in a USB 2.0 port) to position the dongle 1' away from the power LED (this is the optimal distance as interference can occur if closer than this, and signal loss can occur if further away).
- Ensure the Bluetooth antenna is in the upright position and faces the Omni's receiver (which is behind the power LED).
Power off headset
If you have our bundled Omni One headset, make sure that it is powered off before installing and running Omni Connect for the first time. If it is powered on, even if it is in standby mode, it will automatically connect to the Omni, preventing it from being found by Omni Connect on your PC. While this won't prevent you from establishing a connection to your PC when you connect to it via the app in the headset, you will not see it connect in the task bar until you do this, so, please check that your Omni is able to establish a connection to Omni Connect by leaving the bundled Omni One headset powered off for now. If you are not able to establish a connection, please check our PCVR troubleshooting guide.
Test Signal Strength:
If you are using a USB extender to bring the dongle closer to the Omni's power LED as pictured above, you shouldn't have an issue with signal strength. However, if you want to check the signal strength, please see this article for instructions.
